Paying with mobile using sms

Pay By SMS: With Which App?

While wallet apps aim to remove the need to carry your wallet with you when you shop, there is still the issue of convenience and ease of payment. Many mobile payment systems are complex and require more than 30 seconds to complete the payment process, making the user wonder if swiping his or her credit card wouldn’t be more comfortable.
The pay by SMS technology aims to be just as quick as pulling your credit card. Currently, many pay by SMS services are only targeting websites and webshops, but in many cases there is no actual reason why the services cannot be used at brick and mortar businesses as well.

So while this solution suffers from its own disadvantages (for example: in some cases you need to pay for an SMS that you send) and it doesn’t offer all of the advantages that some other pay by mobile app do, it is still a worthy alternative to consider.

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Luxemburg
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Russian Federation
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • Sweden

How does it work?
All you have to do is send a text message with a short text to a 4 digit number.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the service varies by country, so you will have to check their site for the rate in your country. Payment is rendered using the local currency, so for example, in South Africa you will be paying in South African Rand.

Anything else worth mentioning?
In some countries you can pay by phone call instead of text and have the option to choose between the 2 methods of payment.

Anything else worth mentioning?
While the solution is neat and worth considering, the process of implementation isn’t instant and not very easy (if you are not a developer or employing one full time). Plus, there is no online or mechanized sign up process, you need to contact the company sales team.
